About Metta Fund
As a private health foundation, the mission of Metta Fund is to improve health in the City and County of San Francisco, California.
The foundation is structured to fund in perpetuity and is dedicated to supporting capable nonprofits that work to promote health in the San Francisco area. In 2011, Metta Fund awarded nearly $5 million in grants.
The areas of interest for the foundation are providing access to healthcare, supporting healthy behaviors, preventing violence, and improving quality of care. The foundation concentrates its giving in San Francisco, California and does not accept unsolicited proposals. Our staff researches and works with organizations of interest and presents recommended grant applicants to a grant committee of our board for consideration.
