To respond to emerging San Francisco needs and deepen our work in community, Metta Fund has sunsetted select areas of grantmaking. A full list of our Legacy Focus Areas can be found on our Grants Awarded page.
Summer Camp for Underserved City Youth
The Summer Camp Program has afforded full and partial scholarships, according to need, for underserved and low-income San Francisco youth. Through grants to local nonprofits, Metta Fund has engaged youth in programs that enhance social-emotional learning and provide opportunity for physical and cultural recreation. Funding resources have allowed free and reduced camperships to both day and residential programs over the summer months. The impact of this program includes: summer learning and enrichment for students during the gap in the school year; enhancement in leadership, social and life skills; engagement in outdoor education and physical activity; and improvements in the feelings of safety and reduction of trauma.

Ensuring Safe and Healthy Living Environments
The Ensuring Safe and Healthy Living Environments Grantmaking Program has promoted sustainable neighborhoods and enhanced community infrastructure for San Francisco residents. Metta Fund has supported grantee partners to: foster safe, green and active public spaces that encourage outdoor interaction; and engage community members to become advocates for change.
Grant resources to nonprofits in this program have: increased access and use of park, playground and outdoor recreational areas; decreased neighborhood and domestic violence; increased perception of safety; and reduced occurrences of severe and fatal pedestrian injuries.
