On May 14, Metta Fund was honored to welcome community leaders, partners, advocates, and friends to celebrate Cathy Davis at the 2026 Metta Fund Leadership Award Reception.
For more than 40 years, Cathy has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and service to older adults in San Francisco and the Bayview–Hunters Point community through her work with Bayview Senior Services. The evening was a meaningful opportunity to recognize her enduring impact and deep commitment to ensuring older adults remain connected, supported, and engaged in their communities.
We are deeply grateful to Senator Scott Wiener, Fred Blackwell, Shireen McSpadden, and Kory Powell-McCoy, representing Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, for sharing reflections on Cathy’s remarkable legacy and contributions.
In a letter honoring Cathy, Speaker Emerita Pelosi wrote:
Cathy has forged a legacy of her own by expertly providing and expanding centers where older adults remain active and connected to their communities.
Her words captured what so many in the room felt throughout the evening — profound appreciation for Cathy’s leadership, compassion, and lasting impact on San Francisco communities.
We also extend our thanks to Dwayne Charles Project and Ajuana Black for the incredible music and performances that brought energy and joy to the celebration, and to Inspired Events for their thoughtful planning and coordination.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating Cathy Davis and for the work each of you do every day to strengthen communities and support older adults across San Francisco.
About the Metta Fund Leadership Award
Launched in 2021, the Metta Fund Leadership Award recognizes visionary leaders who have made outstanding contributions to improving the quality of life for older adults in San Francisco and beyond.
Hosted biannually, the award celebrates leaders whose work advances dignity, equity, and connection for older adults, while helping elevate public awareness around aging and the importance of investing in thriving communities across generations.
As part of the award, Metta Fund provides a $10,000 grant to an older adult-serving nonprofit organization selected by the honoree. This year, Cathy Davis directed the grant to Bayview Senior Services, reflecting her longstanding commitment to supporting older adults in the Bayview–Hunters Point community.
