San Francisco, CA –– Metta Fund announces today that Parvin Manuchehri, CFP® and Roberto Vargas, MPH have been elected to the foundation’s Board of Directors.

“Parvin and Roberto embody the spirit of service and justice that Metta Fund stands for,” said Jarmin Yeh, Metta Fund’s board chair. “Their leadership and expertise will help us deepen our impact and ensure our strategies reflect the communities we aim to support.”

Parvin Manuchehri, CFP®, is a seasoned financial professional with a longstanding career in wealth management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and received her Certified Financial Planner® certification in 2002. She brings a strong financial lens and a passion for equity-driven philanthropy to the board. “I’m honored to join the board of Metta Fund, a foundation whose values and mission deeply resonate with me,” said Manuchehri. “I look forward to contributing to efforts that uplift older adults and create more equitable health outcomes in our city.”

The board also welcomes Roberto Vargas, MPH, Associate Director of the Center for Community Engagement and Senior Staff at UCSF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute. With decades of leadership in medical education and research, as well as nonprofit and school-based programs serving low-income communities of color, he has helped shape health policy at both municipal and national levels. Vargas has served on the National Cancer Institute’s National Council of Research Advocates and chaired the board of the Central American Resource Center of San Francisco and San Francisco’s Sugary Drinks Distributor Tax Advisory Committee.

“It’s a privilege to join a board so clearly committed to justice, health equity, and systemic change,” said Mr. Vargas. “I’m excited to support Metta Fund’s efforts to center older adults—especially those in underserved communities—as key voices and stakeholders in building a healthier future.”

We are thrilled to welcome Parvin and Roberto to the board. Their unique perspectives, talents, and long-standing commitments to equity and community well-being will be invaluable to our work,” said Janet Y. Spears, Metta Fund’s chief executive officer. We’re excited for what’s ahead.

With the addition of these two dynamic leaders, Metta Fund continues to strengthen its governance and deepen its commitment to a more just and inclusive aging experience.

Both Ms. Manuchehri and Mr. Vargas will serve a three-year term, with the opportunity for up to two additional terms. The foundation thanks outgoing board director Kimberly Brandon for her many years of service and dedication.
