The Metta Fund is pleased to announce that Roma Guy and John Woodward have joined the organization’s board of directors.

James Loyce, Board Chair and Janet Y. Spears, Chief Executive Officer, extend a warm welcome to the new directors. “We’re excited to have Roma and John joining our Board of Directors,” said Ms. Spears. “Both bring years of valuable experience in the nonprofit sector and deep knowledge of San Francisco’s community health needs. We look forward to the wisdom and guidance each will bring in the coming years as Metta Fund continues to invest in improving the health of San Francisco residents, particularly the city’s older adults.”

Ms. Guy has been a community activist in San Francisco since the 1970s. Her work has focused on women’s and LGBTQ rights, and she is a founder of the SF Women’s Building, La Casa de las Madres, and several other community-based organizations. She has served on the statewide Health Access Board of Directors, and the SF Mayor’s Local Homeless Board.

Mr. Woodward is the Chief Executive Officer of Front Porch Communities and Services, a nonprofit affordable housing and continuing care provider. Prior to joining Front Porch, he served as an investment banker and consultant to not-for-profits including health care systems, academic medical centers, and senior living organizations.

Metta’s board is comprised of seven individuals who set the foundation’s strategic priorities. Both new members have been elected to serve a three-year term. The foundation also wishes to thank outgoing board members Marcia Smolens and Robert Reed for their years of service and dedication.
